Well, do you see a lot of maple leafs flags on the cars unless it's playoffs ?? I certainly don't.
The same thing with soccer. Euro and World Cup are BIG BIG events which matter a lot to soccer fans. That's the reason for all the flags etc.

I think there are a lot more soccer/football fans around Toronto who follow European club play than most people realize.
True, it doesnt get a lot of post-game media coverage, but between FoxSW and Sportsnet, there are quite a few games televised...and almost all the Champions League matches.
I think a lot of non-soccer fans wave flags every 2nd June and have no interest the rest of the year....BUT there are plenty of people who follow it regularly....

i always follow the bundesliga but don't know anyone else who is into it.. and about flags.. it would be pointless carying a VFL BOCHUM flag with me cause no one will have a clue what the hell that means, accept maybe some germans. EC and WC are much bigger turnaments that more people are into.. it matters a lot more and a lot more energy goes into it than just the regular soccer league.

Is it about soccer (football)? Or is it about trying to identify yourself as one of the "nationalities" represented by the teams?
Do these bi-yearly soccer fans follow regular league play as religiously?
I find most soccer fans in Toronto to be a curious sort. I never see anyone talking about Machester United, Rangers, Celtic, River Plate, FC Milano, Real Madrid, Boca Jrs etc etc but every 2 years the nationality flags fly from car windows.

good point brought up...from my last year or so on this board i know for a fact that most of the regulars who post in the soccer threads know enough about the game to be more than just bi-yearly fans...i personally follow the english premier league religiously and some of the other leagues to a lesser extent through the year.

Football is a World Sport
Every Nation and its People have the Right to Support thier Teams.
You don't have to Follow Football to Be Supporter.
I Follow Football because I love the Sport(as you can see by my AVATAR) but you got to admit, there are more girls during a Euro and World Cup Match at a Bar
