toss up between Oakenfold and Tiesto...
Oakenfold helped define the scene...as itikia said, probably the first "superstar" DJ in EDM. Out of that group, you could say that he contributed most to the scene itself.
In terms of a global contribution, Tiesto. Tiesto seems to be known and loved *everywhere*...he's had a big part in trance becoming popular around the world. #1 DJ (so they voted, lol)...but that just proves my point
I voted Tiesto.

Ok, so right now, Tiesto has 9 votes, and Oakenfold has 9 also.
WTF are u people thinking? How embarassing!!!! Oakenfold was around LONG before Tiesto came in the picture. Oakenfold started it all... the clubs in Ibiza, England, etc... he defined the EDM scene, big time!

sure he is great...but he just doesnt have the history to be considered a major trend setter.
If you didnt already know...Oakenfold helped to name Tiesto as a big up and comer, which means he was discovered, he didnt make his own way.
Has to be Oakey. He has worked with some of the biggest stars in the world to help bring EDM to the forefront, to where it is today.
EDM producers are now even being asked to help do movie scores, which ofcourse Oakey help start.
No problems with the others, Picotto, PVD, Sasha and diggers, they all deserve their place.

Oakenfold (re: the history books)
agreed.
i can't understand the votes for tiesto over oakie- it would be like saying that brittany spears has done more for pop music than madonna. I'm arguing for oakie and i don't even like anything he's done in the past 5 years.

Wasn't he the first person to get a remix onto the top 10. If i recall properly it was a U2 track called "better then the real thing" and the remix actually made it higher then the original track.
