There's got to be a catch. You can't just walk away from an online poker game without the company taking its share of your winnings. How much of that money are you actually going to see?
Edit: Nevermind... I just read about it on the site. Not sure whether or not I trust something like that, though. How much money have you made off of doing this so far? |
I don't want to sound like I'm a shill for the site and that I'm endorsing it. Online poker rooms work like this. You're not playing against the "house" or the "site", you're playing against other players from around the world. The site takes a tiny percentage of every pot won up to a maximum of $3. This may not sound like a lot but when you consider at empirepoker where I play at any given time there may be thousands of tables going on. Basically these guys makes millions.
I was a little apprehensive at first for signing up but once I found out how popular it was and how many people were doing it, it became a lot easier.
The online poker business is like no other. However I recommend that if you do decide to play, that you do so only in the top 4 sites. These sites are entirely legit because they have been around for a while and are just so large and financially sound(empirepoker/partypoker, paradisepoker, pokerstars, and ultimatebet). These guys make so much money that it makes no sense for them whatsoever to cheat you.
Besides I've won so much that it's something I never think about anymore. As far as how much I've made off this so far, I would tell you but you'd think I'm bullshitting you (no joke). For other obvious reasons, I don't think it's appropriate to discuss it here.
Keep in mind though, that I just didn't start playing poker just yesterday. I've been playing poker for years. I've had more experience playing live at casinos, (I think I mentioned this in some other poker threads mentioned in TA). Although now, I prefer to play online much more. There's so many advantages.
Like another poster stated, when I first started I actually lost quite a bit (call it education fee). But I'm a quick learner and got all my money back and a whole lot more
