i bet by the time he's as old as Owen, he wouldn't be so good anymore, he's just a hype, the kicks the balls in which he gets from midfield, so they deserve credit aswell. don't forget he only played Croatia and Switzerland, not the best kinda defense, is there?
put him up against a good team, like France or Portugal, and he's nowhere. he will never be Pele 2, since he doesn't have finesse.
the finesse Zidane, Figo, Davids, Pele, Van Nistelrooij, Van Basten, Gulit, Maradonna, Cruijff, Eusebio, etc has.
he just walks fast and struggles a lot, that's why he can score a few times. |
Rooney made his first ever England start against Turkey, and was absolutely amazing. He tore them apart, took em on, played with them, beat them, tackled them, he was simply MOM.
Your wrong straight away, because England played against France in opening game. Everytime he got on the ball he scared shit out of French players, and he beat them with ease. All the players mentioned there are either at the end of their career (coming up to it within 5 years) or they are retired. Rooney is 18.
I dont agree he is already Pele, and it is hard to imagine anyone as good as Pele to ever grace a football field as well.
Pele won the world cup, but i think Brazil had such a quality team (best team in history) that without him, i think they still would have won. Argentina, without Maradonna would never have won the world cup because he single handedly won it for them.
i think Rooney has now 9 goals in 11 games, that is an excellend goal record for an internation!
Rooney is different from Shearer and Liniker. They were both great goalscorers, Rooney is something else, he mixes pace, power, strength, mental awareness and he has such a good shot on him, never mind being able to header the ball too. Very rarely do you get all these in one.
p.s. Hargreeves could also have played for Germany because he had been a resident there since a young lad or something.
