bah anyways... I'm loosing intrest in the sport

Yeah handballs have been weird in this tournamnet. Apparantly, there has been a change in "definition" of handball in that a handball is only handball when it is intentional. I don't know how true this new definition is because this would be the first tournament using such a rule and it hasnt kicked up such a fuss.

Football is going through a transition patch I think. I long for an era of personalities. Gone are the days of names like Rumminege, Maradona, Mattiaus. Even players like Cruyff and Best who never won anything invoke a sense of romanticism. These were personalities that defined a generation of players and names that meant dedication and passion for the sport. Only Zidane can be spoken of in the same breadth I think. The corporate millions of Adidas, Pepsi and Nike try so hard to sell players like Beckham, Raul, Totti, Del Piero but they are all prima donnas in the grand scheme of things.

As someone who has played football all my life semi-professionally, however, I continue to watch and love the game. I am less passionate about supporting teams though and I just watch it for the sake of watching a good game. There is no sport like it in my opinion.

That has always been the case.

Handballs were always only supposed to be given for "intentional" handballs, but it is up to the referee's judgement, and it is very hard to prove that a handball was not intentional.

Really I think it was a fixed game because somehow someone from Denmark said the score was going to end up 2-2, and to my surprise,it did end up on a tied that took Italy out.
I don't belive Italy should've passed, becuase surely they were playing very bad but yes like Buffon said
quote:
All those who talk about fair play and sporting values should open their eyes,"
. I totally agree with him. That was everything expect fair play and sporting values.

In Tomasson's 2nd goal,it was a very wierd goal, but hey, Sweden and Denmark passed because they were simply playing better than the Italians.

G'day

Pfft, it was the same story when Italy were eliminated from Korea/Japan

Real men win their own matches.

well we didn't loose one match and finished on the exact same points total as you. does that mean your not real men either.

I must say I think it's pretty absurd to think that the reult was pre-arranged, but I definately think sorensen had a hidden agenda when he dropped the ball right at the end.

My point being that if Italy were so afraid of Swe-Den fixing the game, they were more than welcome to beat us. After all, they did play us both.

PS: I seriously think Berlusconi bribed Bulgaria. 4 mins overtime and Italy get their much needed goal, wtf?!

Did you see the amount of diving and time wasting that the bulgarians were doing throughout the italy game.

btw i was kind of being sarcastic with my previous post, altho we finished on the same points total we never deserved to go any further.

Oh well here's to world cup 2006 and marcello lippi as coach.

I don't understand why the Italians can take a loss like everyone else... okay it's hard to get kicked out of the tournament but there's always a reason why but they chooses to blame something else instead of realising they weren't good enough.

I can say tomorrows game between Holland and Sweden will end up 3-1 to Holland but if that comes true... does that make the game a fixup ? No... cause then Sweden made to many mistakes which led to Hollands advantage... ( I still though hope for the best fro Sweden )

This is a small chat I had with an Italian friend...

***ELSA*** säger:
it was afaked game
just because we scare all the other teams and it was super to send us home
***ELSA*** säger:
it was clear it had been faked since the start......what a cpoincidence 2.2

-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
hahaha
You are hilarious
It was not a fake game... I watched the hole game and I can assure you it was for real

***ELSA*** säger:
i watched it too on a cassette
and i saw a lot of hilarious things
***ELSA*** säger:
like swedish fans with the 2-2 thing

-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
Can t the italian team take a loss

***ELSA*** säger:
we didn+t loose
we nwon yesterday+s match

-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
but they got kicked out...

***ELSA*** säger:
anyway sweden and danemark won+t go further
i wonder what u would say if i wrote on the net SPAIN ITALY 2-2 HEJ HEJ SVERIGE

***ELSA*** säger:
i don+t think it is so sporty

-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
haha its fun
Cause the media in Italy has been on this hole conspearicy thing all the time.... we are not like that...

You know the swedish word for spit ? spott... the media here call Totti for Spotti
-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
get over it... it´s just a game and we take it seriously.... italia should to

***ELSA*** säger:
doesn+t matter you shouldn´t be happy that another team was excluded
above all if u are friends from the other country
it is not sporty

-=2-2 CIAO CIAO ITALIA=- säger:
its just fun to see when they make something out of nothing

***ELSA*** säger:
in italy everyone is very close to the national team, it is just a game but for us it i also a tradition
it is like a piece of heart
yesterday i cried when they were kicked out
