'i've noticed that i'm not pleased with my productions in the majority of cases. maybe its because im a weak producer but rather i suppose that the fact of hearing them constantly during the production process let them appear a bit boring to me. have you guys made similar experiences or am i totaly alone with this impression?'

understood because ive quite often felt like this. when i joined this forum (about 2 days ago) i didnt put my tracks up in the amateur producers forum because there were actual pros and aspiring pros there - it felt a bit demoralising. whats worse i thought, was their stuff was really fking good. on another technical level to my stuff. but the point i guess is to not let that get you down and keep working at new tunes and developing new ideas and learning from the songs and the producers that you wanna be on par with.

i think everyone sometimes gets sick of their own tunes, incomplete, looping in reason or cubase or fl studio for what seems like forever. ive grown to HATE some of my old songs and i get embarassed when people download them because, well...because they are rubbish. but thats a good and bad thing. its a bad thing because its not good for morale and sometimes its like 'im never gonna cut it as a producer.' its a good thing because its a reaction that can really make you get your ass into gear and it shows how much you have developed from your old tracks and how the expectations you have of your own songs are much higher. this is a really good frame of mind to be in. i say keep working at those songs. keep trying out new ideas because the worst thing you can do is limit your repetoire of ideas and techniques by using the same instruments all the time, the same sounds, breakdowns and fills and buildups. keep one ear on the forums and take in as much info and tips from others as possible. keep trying to get those ideas out in new songs. get outdoors and have a few great nights out listening to the music you wanna create and think about what makes that music so energetic and exhilerating, and how you can capture some of that in your songs, and because its so much easier to write songs you like when you've gotten to the root of why you like them. i never realised how dynamic dance music was in terms of position and interaction until i started to regularly go out on the southampton hard dance circuit. you know how professionally made songs just totally surround you in a club? and theres stuff panning all over the place, synths coming in, fading out, every tiny frequency in the entire audible range in there somewhere or other and bass that physically hits you in the chest and moves the air all around you? its worth thinking about all of that when writing a song in terms of how you EQ parts of your song, set the levels correctly, master them and how you use all of that + stereo panning to create a sense of depth and space to your sound. keep all that in mind and persevere and i wouldnt really be surprised to see any of the people here doing production as a full time thing. some do already :O
