Ok well Rui Costa is no Beckham, plus Beckham has missed 3 important penalties for England. 1 vs. Turkey in the Qualifiers, 1 vs. France, and this one against Portugal. Also Beckham is probably the biggest sports figure in the world and he is the captain of England.

Rui Costa no Beckham? I would rate Rui Costa as a better player in his time. He has gotten old and weary both for Milan and Portugal over the years. Even these days give him a few feet of space and he will punish you (just ask James and P. Neville ).
But yeah, Beckham's missed a few penalties and everyone's on his case again. I think a lot of players have gotten through a bad patch Nistelrooy, Figo, Raul, Henry so just let them all be really. Or maybe Beckham should offer to take a free kick instead.
