I know its good when I can needle drop it anywhere and know its good. That is to say that ALL the elements in the song make musical sense and really contribute to the overall vibe (as opposed to one sample, the kickdrum, or other individual elements of a song). Also, I've found that to really hold my attention the song has to have solid percussion that fits in between 2 quarter notes, creating an interesting rythym that makes me want the breakdown. My 2 cents
