hey just wondering trinity why you go through so many mixers???

I could see that you have gotten your hands on some great mixers, including what many ppl call perhaps the greatest sounding mixer ever.. the Urei. Also surprised that you werent too impressed with the Xone that you had/have.

What quality in the mixer are you looking for... sound quality? features? or combination?

I use a Rane Mojo mm8z mixer and i can say it feels comfortable to mix with. I mean.. nothing flashy in terms of the setup.. no fx built in. But the knobs and faders feel smooth, accurate, and the sound quality is warm, accurate and flat. Cue sys on it is ok i guess, but i main use one ear monitoring when i use it. It doesnt have split cue on it and i can hear all eq changes through cue or when i rotate it to master. 4 inputs 4 phono, total of three output, including a loop TSR out for hooking up FX unit, which i use sometimes. Also, has two mic outs w eq. Overall solid mixer imo.

I guess when you are used the mixer, you dont appreciate it much. Though when i use other setups or mixers, then im like man "this feels cheap". Usually happens with mixers such as Stanton, Numark, even a vestax once. They just feel too flimsey
Ive always wanted to get my hands on Urei though... heard many great things about it.

My thing with mixers is more sound quality, besides obviously the feel of it. I hate mixers that color up the sound with frequencies that arent there, if you know what i mean.

I'll second the Vestax PMC 46MK2

Quality mixer... the knobs have just the right amount of resistance, the analog meters are pimp.

Didn't care for the lack of midrange EQ adjustment, though it is possible to boost it by cutting the bass & treble then raising the gain, and lowering it the opposite way - a bit too much fiddling for my likes. And well... I'm a sucker for aesthetics, and it's just a bit too flashy for me in that gold/champagne.

I think DJ Tranz had said something about having problems finding replacement parts, etc.

I like it though... I'd also love to spend a few hours on a PMC-37.

what i'm looking for is the best mixer for the money.....i don't mind pay'n top dollar if it worth it....the xone 92 i paid 1400.....is it worth it to me????????not really......the only rane i ever owned was the 2016 with eq mod and it was made well i just wasn't happy with the sound outta it....IMO it was very punchy sounding....it lacked low end or 'balls'....like i said it was constucted well...solid....i sorta judged rane after that so i didn't want to try anything else from them but i think maybe i should.....i like there builds....
so does rane make a 4 channnel, adjustable crossfader mixer some can reccomend?

ON the rane... yeah man,, that 2016 is prob their best sounding mixer out there right now. If you thought that one lacks balls, you prob wont be satisfied with the others. Yeah, rane mixers have very solid built and tend to feel like tanks ... which is a good thing in my book. Though mixers like the 2016 sound quality are mostly noticed in a big sound systems.

Well... i like my Mojo MM8z.. you can pick one of those up for like $700.. certainly worth the money. 4 channel, eq on each channel and curve on crossfader. My only gripes wtih the thing to be completely honest is that the eq only has -/+15db for bass & trebel and -/+8db for mids, no kills switches
The empath is a three channel...
The Rane MP44 looks to be right up there with the 2016, but without the rotary knobs. Actually, its an older mixer then the 2016, so it may indeed sound different. This is actually their true flagship model.... When i was buying my mixer i spoke to a guy that happened to be trading in some gear and restocking on new mixers. He owned his own mobile DJ business. ANd he was telling me to get the MP44...He was saying that he used that for years and he had used other models, but that he preferred the MP44 for feature quality, built, reliability and sound quality. Though it was more than what i wanted to spend, otherwise i may have picked it up.
That one does offer complete kill frequency for each channel eq (which is my only gripes with the mm8z) plus many other features. Price runs about 1400
