I use 30 to 40 channels in a track, and i use a compressor on each channel .

usually two mixers in Reason as well..

that's impressive Nik what you did for the lead in Genesis. for a lead, i always use 3 or 4 instruments max., nothing more (those EQ units in Reason are a hassle).
Plus Ultra contains 3 instruments for the lead (+ 3 strings to fill things up)

and layering 10 kicks hehe, never tried that...

Trance, where are you??

- PErcussion: All NN19's --> Grouped together to a mixer called 'Percussion'
- Bass: 2 Subtractors or more --> Grouped to a mixer called 'Synths'
- Lead: 4 Subtractors or more --> Grouped to the same 'Synths' Mixer
- Pads/Strings: NN19/ Subtractors --> Also connected to 'Synths' Mixer
- Fx: Subtractors --> Also connected to 'Synths Mixer'

So i have some mixers: Synths, Percussion (and sometimes Synths2, Percussion2 etc. etc.) and all these mixers go into one main mixer.
I use send effects the most: on Synths mixer, 2 delays, 1 panned left a bit , 1 panned right a bit, with steps of 3 and 4. And also use insert fx as well, but not often.

Further only compression on kick, claps en bass. Equalize almost every nice instrument, like leads pads etc. etc.

The setup I use, is taken from someone 'big' on these forums

Cheers!

Well it was a bit of an overkill, I must admit. And to top it all off the release (if it's ever happening) won't even have those synths in it
