so far i have only seen the crowd clip, which is sweet may add. unfortunately, my already slow dial-up connection is going even slower, and although im spending my d/l time watching movies, i decided to check out oakeys website and this is what ive found about the summerfest event:
Out of Toronto on to Milwaukee for an out door show @ the Milwaukee Summer fest. This annual event normally attracts over 20,000 people…we are taken straight to the Gig from the airport… our Tour Bus, our home on wheels for the next 22 days is parked just off our stage, as we give it the once-over all's in place…except “that beds in the wrong place?”
Back outside front of stage we are being entertained by the sound of ‘Tortured Soul’ a three piece outfit that are well worth it…taking a walk around the rest of the site Paul does a few meet and greets with a happy bunch, to our amazement we pass about 9 stages of all different types of sounds, all this set across from a main flyover… and out doors…getting back to the Bus, we a pop up on stage to where Felix the House Cat is preparing to go on,, because of the cross wind a Perspex screen is set up so as not to blow the needle of the record … luckily he plays mostly CD’s,
As he warms up … into his set, one look @ the crowd and you know it's gonna go off here … the atmosphere from rest of the site is tame by comparison…
After starting well, then suffering sound off and on due to a faulty CD player
Felix finishes his tormented set to an understanding applause … it's unfortunate but @ the same time ironical?
A Stage change over and Paul walks on to a crowd that has swelled from 3,500 to an estimated 6,500…as the huge roar goes up, he moves into gear, because of the size and mixed age of this crowd he playing more of a scoreboard set…completely different to what he’s been playing the last 6 gigs…to see the result on the faces of this crowd justify satisfaction…they are so diverse…he takes them on…the crowd now goes as far back as the grounds…as he closes there chants grow…until Paul finally bringing it to an end…they refuse to move…we have to due to a 12.30pm curfew…we have time for a signings and more meet and greets…this gig has been one of the better ones Paul's played so far…the final official people count … 9,500 … the second biggest pull they have ever had @ the fest…but whose counting!
