Luckily I only bought it a month ago and musiciansfriend.com has a 45 day return policy.

I am just concerned they will charge me a restocking fee since I dont have the original box anymore.

Bleh

Actually, Musician's Friend is another name for "Guitar Center". If you care to contact a local store and explain the situation they may be able to help you in one of the following ways:
1)Service it free of charge (but you will be without synth for some time)

2)exchange it on the spot (doubtfull, since most GC's with the exception of superstores don't carry Access Virus regularily)

3) refund your dough

You may wish to contact musician's friend first though. Tell them your sob story and tell them how pissed of you are they sold you a junk of a synth. tell them how you're heart broken and intend to never deal with them again... Unless they replace it free of charge and cover the shipping. What they may do for you in that case is a) charge you a deposit for a new synth b) send you the new synth and tell you to use the old box to send back the broken unit c)upon receipt of returned unit you should be credited your deposit. This way you have the synth.

If they bitch and moan, demand to speak with a supervisor and tell them "That's not the kind of service I would have gotten from ZZounds or Sweetwater.com" - they'll usually try to please you. You may actually try to work it to your advantage and have them knock down a few bucks by saying - "This shit happened to me out of the blue in the middle of the gig! You almost cost me a loss of a regular gig! you filthy whores! Don't you know who I am? Wait untill I post the slander about you all over the web, you dirty filthy whores!" Or something along those lines
The key is to talk directly to a supervisor and not some peon.

Good luck bro... sux0rz big time, dawg but at least you have some recourse.

Worst case scenario, threaten to return the junker to them and dispute the charges with a credit card company.

Let us know how it works out.

later!

Smiley DJ from the land of the weird...

Just got a call from what appeared to be some lamers - some dude calling himself "G.T." and some other jack off calling himself "DJ Swamp" from LA called to ask about Machinedrum. Had me run a demo on the phone for like 20 minutes. Then, the "DJ Swamp" says - ok, sounds like a pretty cool box. How much are you asking for it to buy it now. So, I tell him the BIN price - 1099. He says "but it's listed ad 899 on ebay". I tell him, yeah, that's the minimum I'm going to sell it for and I currently have bets on it. Most likely, it will sell for higher. If you want it now, the price is $1099. So the dude (totaly unaware, imho, how auctions work) says - "how come you listed it for 899 but jackin' the price on me?"

.........huh????????????????????????????? I was stunned...

needless to say I won't be adding DJ Swamp to my list of famous buyers... checked around, apparently he's some demi-celebrity of sorts... oh well... needless to say, fame and money isn't everything.

This is exactly the reason why customer service in general has gone down over the last few years. Immature morons saying whatever they have to say to get their way.

I bet if he just called them up, and said "I bought an Access Virus XX days ago, and the display seems to be messed up", I bet they would be more than willing and GLAD to help you than if you yelled: "you filthy whores! Don't you know who I am? Wait untill I post the slander about you all over the web, you dirty filthy whores!"

I mean have some decency. And if you were kidding, It's not funny. Some kid would probably take you seriously and actually do it..

I'm just sick and tired of the level of moral indecency that is 'popular' in this day and age.

Vert, are you picking on me or just a troll in general? It seems like every post I enter here gets scrutinized by you.

If you didn't sense any sarcasm/exaggeration in my post and didn't see any sensible advise, I can safely conclude that you've got as much of a sense of humor as your average government official.

Get of my case or find some other meaningfull activity. There's always a simple solution - you can set your preferences to ignore my posts and it will all be nice and dandy for you.

f-n tosser... gawd!
