elitism is what it is...

i fail to see the 'elitism' in the situation? what part of society is being governed by individuals because they're..remixing britney spears? O_o

edit: who's Suissa? vocalist?

Now that we know who Suissa is, why can't we compare the two? They seem to be in a similar category..

I personally don't believe 'pop diva's' songs should be remixed by anyone. What's the point?? The trance I want to hear is not a part of America's pop stars. Notice I don't listen to them in my free time, why would i listen to a remix?

Who might be a mere "pop diva" to you is respected and renowned to others, in other cultures too. For example, the Japanese see Britney very differently, but maybe that's in part because of their Idoru. There are all sorts of global tastes, and that diversity is wonderful!

You can definitely compare or at least relate, as I let music go to personal preference (yes, the whole REDUNDANT subjectivity thing). A large number of people I have talked to -- fellow Britney Spears fans -- have cried while listening to Britney's music, and consider it deep. Who am I to play technosnob (as I once admittedly did) and judge their personal experiences? Who am I to enjoy the music of Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson, and many others, and listen to them alongside the "underground" trance, noisecore, and other avant-garde stylistics I enjoy?

Hey, if a fellow by the name of Brian Transeau worked with Britney and Sarah and had good words to say about both -- which he did, despite record label politics -- it's good enough for me.

That being said, I similarly respect James's tastes and he has a passion for doing this.

Yes, and some think of her as a tawdry "trance diva". I myself do not.

I think they should stop remixing the pop songs by Britney Spears , Madonna , etc. They have no meaning to Trance. Plus , their vocals suck , unlike Justina Suissa`s and Sarah Mchlahlan`s .Trance is a different genre of music , and I think these genres have nothing in common ,except for some occasional vocals.

Liking pop tracks and especially their remixes is all about the tastes of the listeners. Personally i don't mind them doing the remixes as many of the remixes i have heard have been great.

For the actual remixing part, trance/prog/etc. producers are often requested to remix a track like what Above & Beyond did for "Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl" and not because they absolutely want to remix it. I guess some EDM producers are enjoying Britney and likes' music and then want to remix them too, i dunno.

For me it's quite interesting (not always tho) to listen how have certain producers approached a pop track. Of course there are some stupid poppers and their labels who hate about everything EDM related *cough* Avril *cough* and not allowing any remixes to be released officially.

I'm with the Walking discography slash chest-beating ape on this one.

If you like it, you like it.

Relax, it's music.

shut up, the remix rocks (the main mix)
it barely uses any vocals either, and they're fucked up in typical Holden manner

i think i read on some interview to james holden where he said he did this one just to piss off elitists

can't wait to hear this. but what about other new james' tracks, any news? "come to me" is fantastic, but it's going to take centuries to get released probably

The vocals are used but her voice actually sounds good here for some reason, and goes well with the song. Even though I'm definitly not a fan of her vocal range... Holden did a damn good job.
