You're absolutely right; diesels need less frequent oil changes. Didn't think many had them out there. For normal folks, read my previous which says 5K is fine.

but 70% of Tranceaddicts could not tell you the difference between diesel and gasoline or the difference in the engines. Diesel is less widely used in cars (at least in North America), diesel is cheaper tho.

Uh, right. So the correct answer is 5K, but use the Slick 50 equivalent engine additive. It really does make a difference by coating the pistons, etc. so there is less engine wear.

btw how long is your commute? my roommate drives back and forth between LA and SB like 3-4 times a week which is about 120 miles each way and he gets an oil change everymonth.
i don't think its that much. probably 150miles a day total...but i do that 5 times a week
and i change the oil myself...you people that take it in for an oil change are suckers...

right but if you are putting the wrong gas in your car it isnt going to run long enough to get to an oil change.

i had an instructor who never did oil changes, every time his echo showed the "oil missing" warning on the dashboard, he would add some oil...
