I guess i'll go sundry these crapped out cd's tommoro... not that'll do any good I think.

Seems to me the old CD best thing that ever happpend thing, no more lost data, no more skipping needles, no more rewinding of old tapes ... was actually a load of crap.

I've actually managed to rip quite a few tunes, the ones I want though.

its the same with DVD's too :/ my mate found an old PC mag dvd from a couple of years ago, all the files are corrupted and there is no scratches or marks on the DVD..

strange. you would have thought they would have sorted this a bit with DVD's especially. people back up lots of important shit on DVD's and CD's, they need to be more reliable.... not that i have 1st hand experience of degrading discs

This actually does piss me off abit, I think the whole cd thing is just one big false advertising... no one ever said CD's didn't last long, as a matter of fact they claimed that cd's would keep basically forever. I have tapes that still work absolutely fine and they are much older than any cd that I have, and those things have been abused over the years(I just tested them to see if they still work).

WHy the hell do people work so thoughlessly with other peoples cds??

I once got a cd back from this one guy, he lost my jewel case, the thing was scratched to hell , and it even had a crack in it. And the best part of it, he dropped it off at my house when I wasn't there, never apologized or anything, then I phone him, and suddenly there was nothing wrong with it when he dropped it off... What the hell is wrong with people?
I have had people steel my cds also
And now the things just stop working all together...

I remember when things came on tapes... those where the days

1. Don't lend out CDs. Ask for blanks and make them copies. You have to be an asshole about this if you're serious about your music colleciton.

2. If you have the cash, get Creative Labs Nomad Zen Xtra. I'll bet your whole collection will fit on one of these. This is the best thing since sliced bread. I can't download music fast enough.

3. Tapes. Are you serious?! Tapes are the least reliable media. I hope you're refering to Cassettes and not 8-Tracks.

man,

about your cds..if you're talking about cd-rs, i went to the computer shop the other day and the guy was telling me, not to try to sell me anything but because he's a friend of a girl i know, that cheap cd-r's are very bad quality so anything like humidity or just ....dirt will make them go wrong..dont ask me how it works..i have no clue but he said to buy good cd-rs..like..the ones u have 5 for 20 bucks...its especially for music, then it uses the same quality as normal "bought" cds...

hope this help...btw..sorry if my english is crap as hell
