It's one of those weird movies that takes several takes to get.
Actually, it's a matter of rather whether you can associate with it or not. Personally, I saw sooooo many similarities between this movie and my RL highschool experience I nearly pissed myself watching some scenes.
As an example, the dude that played Napoleon's geeky brother reminded me of my good friend Steve. We was also into martial arts, computer geeking and whatever Steve didn't have matching, my other friend Dan filled in the blanks.
The part with the gym class and stupid HS physed activities - was spot on, not to mention that our field looked soooo close to the one where it was filmed.
The akwardness of some moments in HS - again, spot on.
Just a bunch of stupid stuff, random humor, and movie for the generation that graduated in late 80's early 90's - before the "WWW" generation - that movie was like a refresher course, a high-school reunion without seeing all the a-holes all over again, etc.
Just FUNNY! Oh, and Jamiroquai's song/dance routine - GOLD!!!
It's one of those movies that grows on you. Like I said - hated it first time around. Watched it again and went "Hm.. this aint' so bad" - then next 2 times is when I really enjoyed it. There are not that many movies that I saw 4 times or would consider watching again. This is one of those rare ones.

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
