I bought the Beringer as a cheaper alternative to the the Pioneer... IMHO, both mixers are cheaply made... The difference is that the Beringer is $500 cheaper than the Pioneer... I think it's a great mixer to start on and as for the "useless" effects, well, that depends on how much you rely on them... The only problem I've had with mine is the number that each effect is... Which is eliminated by writing a "cheap sheet" sticky label on the mixer itself... As for the sound quality... Come on... Who the hell are you fooling?... The only way that is noticeable is in recording and a monstrous system... Both of which are irrelevant if you plan on hooking up in your fuckin' bedroom studio...

Overall, it's not bad for the money... You want superior quality, then spend superior money.. Otherwise, deal with what you got and enjoy mixing..

Well, see, the thing is that I have a monster sound system and I clearly noticed the difference in sound quality. Maybe both mixers are cheaply built, then in that case, the Behringer is a REAL piece of shit compared to the cheaply built Pioneer which is actually feeling really solid. It's heavier... meaning that it has better parts in it. It's also more durable. Just go to a club and see how much abuse the DJM-600 takes on a daily basis. The Behringer wouldn't last a month in a club environment like that. So if I were you, I wouldn't buy it. It's too cheaped out. Better get a 3-channel Numark cause they are a bit more solid.

My viewpoint regarding Behringer is pretty much as follows. They provide a very low cost product, to the extent where many of their mixers are almost "disposable" because of this. E.g. You buy a two channel mixer for $250 CND, and if it breaks a year or two later, no big deal, you just buy another one for a similar price, instead of buying a premium two channel mixer for, say, $500 CND.

This might not be the best attitude, but I think it's a good one to have when it comes to buying budget products. That said, I also would be unlikely to spend money on any of the higher end Behringer products, because I would want to pay the premium prices for a well respected product (i.e. Allen & Heath, Pioneer, etc.).

don't get it. i presume you are looking at it because its an effect mixer? i read in the specs you can't alter the times of them...

whoever said the djm600 is built cheaply is wrong. its a very heavy duty mixer, they take a lot of hammer, and are built for use by clubs. you can't really put these two mixers in the same category IMO. but the sound quality could be better..

It's been said and I am gonna say it again. You get is what you pay for. If 600 was made cheap, it would break easily and features would have a shit quality (i.e. sound, effects, etc.).

Don't buy the rm3-s. It's crap too. I owned one for 6 months w/ nothing but problems. First it's lack of a cf cruve, second, it's really bad up-fader curve, third, it's horrible sound quality, forth, it's phono preamp died after 4 months of owning it.

After that i bought a smx-501, it's cf curve pot died and channel 1 VU LEDS died less than a WEEK of owning it. Pure junk too.

That's when i stopped dicking around and saved up for a Empath.

I own a djx700. It's a great mixer to learn on, and great for the price. I don't understand why you people keep trying to compare it to a 1000$ mixers. All it takes is common sense to know that it's not top of the line. I've had mine since Januaryish, and i havn't had any problems with the faders. I use it regularly on my bedroom setup and i take it around with me to house parties. For the price, you can't complain.
