word, i get worried sometimes cuz it feels like my left ear has like fluid or something in it.....sometimes i think if i had less fluid or wax in there it would seem clearer.....also my left ear canal is smaller than my right one.....i know this becuz i've stuck my fingers in my ears.....seriously.....

soooo I'm confused but i always practice safe sound....at least most of the time....ear plugs at the plug and even during my sets.....also I never play in the red or crank my monitor....so many times i come on after someone who has their monitor cranked and i can't believe it.....too much spl (sound pressure level) causes the ear drum to distort.....how are you supposed to mix cleanly in that environment......turn that monitor down......

also, "listener fatigue" is a recording arts term for prolonged exposure to intense mids.....when you play clubs you can actually keep the dance floor by avoiding sharp eq curves.....roll off some highs, leave those mids at 12, and boost the bass slightly.......and never never play in the red.....=)

let's not forget one of the best symphony composers of all time who was deaf.. Beethoven. Beethoven's talent never diminshed, despite his failing hearing. he was completely deaf and had to press his ear to the floor while slamming down on piano keys to figure out which sound that particular key was making. so don't feel bad that your hearing is bad in one ear. if you really love music and have a passion to create and inspire, you will succeed. to create great mixes you need to feel the music, not only hear it. even though your hearing may be failing you, your passion to create great mixes is not.

the bottom line is.. don't trip about what happened to you in your childhood, just strive to do your best at what you do.

hah i read the title and i thought it was gonna be about mixing live when people are yelling at you from like 2 feet away
i've only mixed in front of my friends, but once i was a bit tipsy (and supposedly doing a better than normal job) and one guy comes up to me and starts making a beat, he can kinda beatbox, but purposly like 10 bpm off and doing it really loudly right at me
pretended not to care for like 10 seconds and then i turned around tweaked out
