evolution supports pedals and as far as i know of the radium does not support pedals. so really just depends how familar you are with piano/keyboard and such

the radium does support pedals. Besides, anything you can do with a pedal, ie. sustain and muting, can be edited into midi data.

So personally, I would just get an old keyboard off e-bay and use it primarily as a midi controller, and then invest in some good vstis.

the whole point of the oxygen is the knobs imo,
and getting an old keyboard defeats that purpose.

i know you can get a knob board, but that will just make things more expensive

It depends what you need it for...if you just need a basic midi controller for your home then any midi controller will get the job done basically. The Evo class is much more pricey, prob their higher end stuff. Read reviews on zzounds.com....awesome site. Apparently the Radium uses cheap light plastic, but thats ok with me.

Bought mine at guitar center. Originally $159. Sales guy cut me a deal. $159 INCLUDING the guitar center warranty. I can smack myself in the head with it in 5 years, and they'll replace it.

It depends. Some old keyboards have assignable knobs/sliders that become fucntional with a nice little patch Mind you, I've never really liked using the knobs/sliders on those keyboards for automation. If I want to automate frequecny cutoffs, or do sweeps, whatever, I just do it in the software.

I almost picked up a JV80 off ebay for $AU180 ($US126) a few weeks ago. Still fumeing about the person that outbid me at the last fuckin second tho!

Nup, it's a JV80, and came out 6 years before the JP8000. But I'm just trying to demonstrate that you shouldn't limit yourself to names like the evolution series when looking for a midi controller keyboard.

You can pick up some really nice old synths which double as midi controllers for really really cheap if you just look around(2nd hand shops/ebay etc)
