I respect your point of view Starsearcher but there is much more to Canada than what excitement it has to offer. There was a reason you came here, may it be family or the promise of greater opportunity, but you came not EVEN knowing anything about it. Does that alone not attest to our quiet strength as a calm country that allows it's citizens a chance at a better life without bold sweeps and tampering of foriegn governments and way of life?
In terms of trade and commerce, we are not obscure. If our obscurity is based on military power then that, I think, is wise in today's inflamed global environment. "Be un-noticed, be un-harmed". Is that not a prudent stance, even if more by neglect than practice?
I don't think we need to promote...people immigrate here readily and our shortages in key health and science areas is more from our immigration office who forces well educated immigrant doctors and intellectuals into low paying jobs for unacceptably long waiting periods then due to us simply enduring a Brain-Drain.
