tip: if they liked disco, try giving them stuff like Dimitri from Paris or Danny Tenaglia's BacktoBasics. my parents are in love with b2b.

Yeah I have the get the same kind of attitude from both my parents. My dad always seems it's funny to point out that most trance music has a clap on the 5th and 13th notes of a bar in order to prove it is repetitive music. Doesn't all music have this kind of structure? lol

What irritates me most is that when I'm composing a track and my mum or dad happen to walk by they'll say something like "that sounds awful", and normally it does, but that's only because i'm tweaking the synth buttons to experiment with sound! They do not understand AT ALL.

The only positive comment I've ever had about the music I like listening to is when I was once testing a new breaks track of mine on my dad's speakers and he actually liked it and compared it to New Order.

If your dad listens to rock, point out that the drummer does the same thing with a snare hit on 2 & 4.

my mom and dad listen to my stuff...they don't really have a choice though...i take over the radio and tell them they HAVE to listen to it if i'm in the car with them....then i ask them if they like it every 2 minutes. there's no escape for them.

lol

my mom was really into music when she was my age too...she used to put headphones on her stomach when she was pregnant with me and make me listen to Pink Floyd and Dire Straights before i was born. probably why i like music....guess it worked.

actually she was blasting SuperTramp the other day in the car...lol

Wow, your mom is more musically aware than 90% of the people on this website.
