Hits..Nail..Head!!!

That is exactly the point... I fully agree... I don't care if people get our tunes, think "thats good, i'll buy it".. but unfortuantely they don't...

Andy, one of those seven has either intentionally or unintentionally leaked that track, or someone who has access to their records. There's a simlple solution to combat this problem. Since there is only 7 people who have the track, make each version you give them slightly different, i.e. stick in an extra hi-hat in the intro, or extend the outro by another 8 bars of percussion, or whatever. then when the track is leaked, see what version everyone has adn you will see wher eht eproblem stems from. Contact the DJ who has that version, explain to them what you did and how you know it's them and see if somethin can be worked out. I appreciate your situation 100% but if only your label has the track to begin with in the first place then it's only your label's fault. keep up the good work anyhow!

Not a bad idea but wont that become more expensive for him in the end?

I agree with this get the user and ban him, filesharing is acceptable on some accounts but when the tune hasn't even seen a full release and its being shared around this is worng.

Why doesnt the tight git go out and spend some of his own money instead of leeching off others who have paid for the record or have permission to use it.

If he likes the tune enough to put it in his mix why not pay for it or wait for full release like others have to.

Can't anything be done about this in ways of prosecution etc..

Another idea tell him you have a new hot tune for him, send him an mp3 which contains a virus then have a good old laugh to yourself when his computer is fukked.

not if he does promo CDR's rather than vinyl. it will cost nothing more than the time taken to add the extra effects. seriously this is a tried and tested method with some major UK labels.

Then i come on here and browse the Tracklist section to see which of the DJ's we have sent our tracks to, are supporting them!!

Then I find several posts of people that I know we haven't sent the track to listing in their "downloadable mix"...

So I PM these guys and politely ask where they got it from.. I had my first reply today concerning "Whirlpool & Octagen - Alaska"

The reply was:

from DJ Celica

message me on msn (b******@hotmail.com)
i will send it to you

A****

FOR F***S sake..!!! Some guy who doesn't even know me, is offering to send me a track I own the rights to.. a track i'm trying to market.. a track that I will try to sell as a record!!!

So from now on, I will openly come on here and name and shame people for doing this!!

You may dissagree with my actions but when you're in my position running a label.. action needs to be taken against these individuals!!!

BEFORE YOU GO BLAME PEOPLE POINT BLANK.

You have to find out if people who are playing it, KNOW if a certain track is released or not.

As Nell pointed out, the track is all over the hub, so please tell me, how can everyone know if this l33t track is still for 7 djs only ? because i didn't.

ABout the idea from Nell, it's not expensive, a producer can fix these small things in 5 minutes.

Even if they did know, do you think it would have stopped them? And last time I checked, mp3 sharing is illegal whether its been released or not. Please correct me if Im wrong.

Again, no matter whether there are 7 or 7000 copies floating around, people shouldn't be playing stuff they haven't paid for, or don't own the rights to.

Even if they don't know whether a track has seen a full release or not, people DO know whether the file they play and use in their mix has been paid for by themselves, thus granting them the right to play an MP3 copy. Or they are REALLY stupid.
