FYI to everyone saying it was on earlier.....in the US there was no live coverage.
The only coverage was the tape delay.
The only time where I didn't have to try hard to hear the music over Bob the idiot and Katie the skank was when Traffic came on as France and then Germany were announced.
Very well done theatrical numbers at the beginning. I guarantee that separating sculpture effect cost about a million bucks alone....I am still trying to figure out how they did it exactly and scenic effects are what I do for a living.

a plane of smoke, lasers coming from the sides perpendicular to it and a light from teh bottom shooting up,... will give you that effect... i was also curious about it
