How about wear on the vinyl?
Anyone know?

Thanks for the opinions so far - depending on my finances (after a large amount of vinyls I'm about to purchse!) I might get the Ortofons, and soon - my current carts are giving me the shits.

You're not supposed to eat them - lame joke, I know.

Anyways, I wish I still had the URL of a site that explains what each of the types of needles made by ortofon are used for and their level of record wear. If you do a little searching, probably on their site you will find it there. As a matter of fact, I know it is on the ortofon website.

For a different question, aren't there some ortofon carts that are made out of metal instead of that black plastic. Does anyone know the name of the cart offhand and have any experience with them?

I have Ortofon Concords that are silver and match the tone arm. Maybe you are thinking of those as they might look like metal if you just see them in a picture.

Damnit, so they just look metal? I knew it was too good to be true. I just want the handles on my carts to be idiot proof and not suffer the same fate as my previous set.

Sadly enough, not that hard. they just kinda leaned on them. It was always nice when I would come home, the tables would be spinning and there was a full beer can spinning on the turntable. If they only knew how much this shit costs.
