They thought he was high and were extremely pissed, but when they found out he was drunk it somehow became more acceptable?? Where's the logic?
This really irritated me.. What do you think? |
I'm glad that irritated you, they are both different types of drugs that affect you in different ways. Alcohol/DXM are the ones that cause loss of motor control and therefore make you an extremely dangerous driver. If you're on speed (or let's say you just had 10 cups of coffee in 10 minutes? something rediculous like that) or a stimulant you are more aware of what is going on, or are at a hightened state if you will. I think that is why everyone in my group looks down on drinking and driving (One couple that attended my highschool died early this year in a car accident... That was NOT a good time) but if you are on E, no problem.
I drove once while on E because I had to drive the girl I was with home. The only thing that pissed me off was the lights at night. They all looked as if i was squinting and they were all radiant bursts of light (due to dialated pupiles. Confirmed by looking in the mirror). I was actually more alert than I usually would be at about 4am. The only thing is that first time E users might be overwhelmed by the euphoria (I know I was earlier that night for a while, but not when I was driving).
For the main topic of the thread, I think it's (in most cases) ignorance. A great deal of 18-19 year olds I talk to that think E is the devil incarnate. They know nothing more than the E horror stories told in the media (kids having seizures, dying, etc), and therefore think that it will happen to them. I have no problem with those that have taken the time to extensively research the effects (like at http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma.shtml) and decided the high was not worth the risk. It's just that these people are in the minority as most people like to have opinions given to them (and taking it on as their own) instead of gathering information and forming their own opinion. Just my 2 cents.
