First I partition my hard-drives, so that I never have any choons on my C drive.
Then I sort them by Singles or Livesets.
Then I sort them by Artist.
If I need to catalogue them, I use Winamp 2.91 to create an HTML list.
Then I burn them to CD... but now I burn them to dvd+-R

here is a tip that most people do not know!
just go out and buy an internal hard drive
Western Digital 160gi = $125
and then go and buy an external enclosure. This will allow you to use the hard drive externally, but pay internal prices. You just pop in the hard drive yourself (very easy) and then connect to the comp, using either USB or Firewire.
the enclosure run anywhere from $20-$50 depending on features.
BOOM you save $100!!!

I'm around 700 gigs, all backed up on mp3 cdr, and most recently mp3 dvdr. I use a program called ADC (Advanced Disc Catalogue) to keep track of em all, similar to WhereIsIt?
Works out well because my new home theatre system reads 95% of my disks, so it's good for parties...
I keep an area on my hard drive for "greatest hits" of different genres, that i'm bound to listen to more often then not...
