This post is ridiculous, so basically you are an elitist if you dislike trance, but like house/techno/d&b, etc...? I dislike trance, and absolutely love house, but I can supply valid reasons for that. Music is subjective, people have different tastes, get over it. |
i said people that BASH trance and only like ONE genre of edm
people that do that know nothing about trance, so why do they bash it?
how many threads do you see that go like
"techno sucks"
or "progressive house sucks"
none

I like a lot of music, including mainstream rap. I liked Wu-Tang Clan when they were "underground" and I like them after they "blew up" and got the "bling whales" . He he. The other day, I was gr00vin' to a subliminally-played version of Nelly's "Iz U" -- you know, that song that makes catchy use of a sample of The People's Court theme. And it made me think of... the plaintiff and the defendant! As in, are our musical tastes on trial here? Why can't we have more freakin' fun??
I don't like the attitudes of technosnobs or classical music snobs or whatever, but they do serve a role -- warning the rest of us to be more openminded and diverse in our approaches to music or end up cranky and whiny like them!
I'd like to hear more trance-hop and I think maybe Hybrid will do this on their next album. We already have trance 'n' bass and breaktrance, and slowing down the BPM and infusing some of that hypnotic goodness as slightly been touched on by Timbaland and a few other producers.
We gotta remember that these musical divisions are largely arbitrary, and a "necessary evil" of accessibility and convenience. You can't just bash a whole genre because like the infinite worm, where does it end and where does it begin? We're all interconnected and house with added arpeggios is trancey or techno with a supersaw riff comes *too* close anyway. "Trance" itself may be likened to all the kinds of dogs . . . they come in all sorts of sizes & shapes. :P
