This topic is both irrelevant and innapropriate for these forums: firstly because this is a forum for discussion and this topic is not a discussion, and secondly because there are already several other threads on the same topic. Therefore, it is spam. Moreover, your post contributes nothing of interest to this forum. I'd be happy not to open the thread, but this one and others like it are cluttering up the forum (as I've already said), wasting bandwidth and interfering with the ability of forum users to quickly locate new topics of interest to discuss. There isn't any relevant difference between creating superfluous "gmail invites" threads and creating superfluous "pics of gurlz" or "where can i download mp3s" threads which are both against the forum rules.

While your post has some validity, I would hardly consider this post spam. The post is not irrelevant because from the looks of my pm inbox, many users are looking for gmail invites. Maybe bordering on the edge of innapropriate since, as you say it is not a discussion. However, I was looking to help TA members out by giving out my invites.

I was planning to lock the thread as soon as all the invites were given out, but now Emil is giving out invites in the thread.

Also, I tried to waste as little bandwidth as possible by asking users to PM me if they were interested.

so everyones shooting their loads everywhere over some email accounts?

come on. myplay lockers were the daddy until everyone used one. once this gets popular it'll go the same way. plus, unless u intend sending people live sets thro email, whats the big deal? emails are tiny.

It archives all correspondence into threads basically.

IE: all you correspondence with one email adress will be self contained in a "conversation", where you can look at all the previous emails sent between the two of you. And the idea behind 1GB is so that you should theoretically never have to delete an email.

alot of fuss over nothing in my opinion over something which functions pretty much how it should anyway.

its not really spam, as its offering someone something which they cant get on their own. but it seems google are going to alot of trouble for small things.

I think that's the thing, it does work like it should, while similiar services don't. Out of all the free e-mail services, I find gmail to be the best in terms of features, and ease of use.

it probably will be. but it seems theyre going to an awful lot of trouble to replace very few small flaws in the standard email system anyway.

the only fault i have with hotmail email is spam, but the spam filter catches most of it, and i keep a daily eye on it so it works. so apart from advancing spam filters, i really dont see much need to goto this length for email services.

I agree with Arbiter, if I see another one of these stupid gmail threads I'll pm swamper. Keep it to one spam thread. I never knew how annoying it could be to watch nerds froth @ the mouth over free email accounts. Welcome to 1999 morons.

Last time I checked you weren't a mod. So until there is an official ruling by a mod on gmail threads, you can stfu.

thx for reminding me I'm not a mod I sometimes forget. Last time i checked i can express my opinion on these boards and pm the mod and yes even swamper without your approval. No matter what the mod rules it's bad net etiquette even if it a gig a space. Maybe the next Space Shuttle can jettison you out and you can enjoy an entire cosmos of "free" space.
