The thing that doesn't make it anonymous (and also what causes so many conflicts on this board) are the little flags below are names and our locations.

Sorry but 9/11 hits home to Americans more, because we live here. We don't know what is happening in Rwanda firsthand or Sudan. If there is a Sudanese man or a Russian who wants to put forth memory for those lost in the school tradgedy we wouldn't hold anything against them.

And about it getting old, we do this so we DON'T FORGET, thats the whole point. You want this moment burned in your brain so you know what it feels like and it never happens again. Maybe you need someone to drive up to your house and blow your family up for you to understand.

Geez if people don't like the thread then don't read it and let it die out, locking it was just wrong.

Couldn't agree with you more.

There's so much anti-American sentiment it's pathetic.

Little do people realise that the imperialism that these people say that the US is fostering is under the direction of the Crown.

The last time the forums had the most people on it was on March 11th 2004. The day of the Madrid bombings. Prior to that it was either the 1 or 2 year anniversary of September 11th.

No kidding. Perhaps the rest of the world is sick of hearing about our Sept. 11 remembrance. Perhaps they simply shouldn't listen.

Between my father and I, we knew 11 people. I knew two who where friends of the family. My father knew 9 people, most from his high school in NYC.

They had families, wonderful lives, and left their wives, husbands and kids to do one thing. Go to work. They didn't sign their lives away that morning. They were just being Americans and doing their jobs.

So please, don't ever give anyone shit for remembering Sept. 11. Because I remember those people all of the time, and the thousands of families without a mother, father, sister, or brother remember those people every single day.

A co-worker of mine had to forcefully retire a few years early because his son Brian Monaghan died in his 20's at the WTC.

Brian senior was one of the better co-workers I have ever known. I wish him God speed and goodluck and hope he will do good minus 1 less son.

maybe a thread which contains "9/11 tomorrow for those of us in a time zone ahead of the continental US. Just remember to dedicate a moment of silence for those tomorrow!" is better suited to the American forums. It doesn't contain any debate / politics just a tribute that Americans will appreciate, while the rest of the world can deal with their own problems (i wonder what remembrance day it is in Chile on 9/11 )

this thread on the other hand is perfect for the forums, it contains insults, americans, debauchery, noobs, scandel and mustard

for the record: it's the "11th of September" "11/09" get your ISO standards right silly americans

Oh man...heres another person implying we should forget about 9.11 because of Chile. Why must someone have to ackwoledge every other trajedy before they do their own?

And who are you calling a n00b? Your join date is only a few months from the newest member in this thread...pot calling the kettle black...on that token i can call you a n00b...because you are to me.

Don't worry how we write our dates...don't you people use kilometrs?

if you want to remember it, go cry in a corner about it

like many said the world and this forum is not all about America, if you don't want to forget be my guest, not that many people care, and the ones that DO care are the ones you should corrsspond with, so yes the America forum on TA would be the best place.

Maybe it's just me, but when you use the word "tribute" it adds an air of circus to the event. These poor people never wanted to become symbols of a unified US, and I feel that that is what is happening to some degree here.

Ok, I misunderstood (it was late). My bad.

How does remembering a trajedy on it's anniversary date make it that some lives are more important then others. With your logic why have funerals, birthdays and/or any rememberances or anniversarys of any sorts. Because ulitmatly they are all tributing to one or a selected group of individuals and excluding countless others.

I was, as you so rightly has guessed, refering to your posts from the past, and took the one you wrote in this thread as a continuation of that:

However i have changed my views on the world and regard ALL life as equal...so ling as it is innocent life. For example here is something i did which most people who know me on here would not beleive. When Iran had that huge earthquake months back and something like 25,000 people died...i threw a fit to everyone i knew how it was barely even mentioned in American media yet 9.11 was tlaked about for so long...i was really pissed about that...and still am...so i have changed....

Re-reading your initial post, bearing this in mind, I might have been to quick to the trigger as regards to you, but I still think that such a memorial thread belong in the local forum.

Enough said, thank you. Why a tribute thread would need to be started on Tranceaddict three years after is beyond me. How about a private prayer for the lives lost.

i guess we should expect it, the last few people aren't from here.

The next time I see a tribute thread on here to any person dying I am gonna be all over it. My compassion for any foreign person killed has run dry.
