Cheney sold all of his HAL stock in 2000 to avoid precisely the conflicts of interest that you're trying to claim exist. He only collects money from the company from a contract that was in place when he was in charge, long before he was ever the VP. There is nothing wrong with that.

so where is he collecting the $ from? also, what he receives annually is confidential, but has been reported to be from 150,000 to somewhere in the millions. how does this not have ANYTHING to do with stockholders? im not being a smartass, i sincerely want to know. explain this to me.

It's like a retirement portion of a contract if you can think about it like that. Think defined benefit program or something along those lines, except that he is merely receiving contractual trailers that were negotiated and put in place long before he was ever part of the current administration. You're looking for conspiracies that aren't there.

In any event, buying HAL stock doesn't do anything for Cheney as he owns no stock. The only way I think he would be able to benefit in the situation you claim to be happening would be if a large buyer came in, ran the stock price up, allowing Cheney to sell his shares at an inflated price...which as I've explained, cannot happen as he doesn't own any(ZERO) shares of HAL stock.

i see your point and thank you for explaining that to me. i dont really see any sort of conspiracy after his appointment to the VP...but more so a question of where the money comes from that pays him every year and how large annual payouts could have nothing to do with the stockholders (at least indirectly). perhaps they had set aside large amounts of cash while he was ceo?

needless to say, imho, the whole story sounds shady. too much military privatization and enormous amounts of cash being made from this "optional war" (my opinion).

he has disclosed 433,000 worth of stock options that at current prices, if exercised, is worth about $18 million. and guess what? he has legaly volunteerd all profits from said options to charity! and non-deferred i might add.

BTW he has only two more years of the "deferred compesation" package payments left at around $150,000 each. totally legal as he has already paid into them prior to retirement and taking office.

he's quite shrewd.

I never said anything about the stocks and money.. in other words, I never ment to say that I just said that there is a preference, and personal interests ofcourse, in some sort of way.. I mean, come on, are you trying to say that Cheney's ties and friendship with Halliburton is gone with the clap of a hand?
