Maybe she really did want a lighter, and not your cock.

Everything he has done for dance music perhaps? Discovered Ibiza? Started Perfecto? First DJ to open for a band, let alone U2?? Essential mixes for over ten years now?? Do i need to continue? He talks about giving up Trance DJing, as he says he has done it all... fair enough, he has! No one else can claim that. Man is a legend. Mixing might be getting worse due to ear-wear, but still, a legend. Check out Perfecto:Flouro or his 94 Goa set... or see how his Creamfields 2004 mix comp is praised as one of the best comps this year.

Ear-wear my ass! He doesn't play out half as much as many other DJ's. Look at Jules and Tong - Tongy particularly, he's been DJing since his teenage years, and is now late 40's, yet he still has great skills despite the old 'DJ Deafness'.

Perfecto isn't any better than other labels, and he didn't single handedly discover ibiza - he was just in the limelight when it happend. Again, most of the other stuff would still of happend anyway by somebody else.

oakenfold 'discovered ibiza' ? wtf - is he like some sort of explorer. Im guessing the ancestors of the people who live on the island actually discovered it.

started perfecto? great - you can never have too many tracks like PPK Resurrection. Or re hashes of old stuff (prophet 1)

essential mixes for over ten years - so hes friends with Pete Tong and the people at radio 1? big achievement. His world tour essential mixes (which fans will always point to being the best) are just a collection of the biggest anthems every time.

You actually listened to his goa mix? A lot of people spout on about it but very few people have heard it. Its rubbish.

he doesnt suck at mixing... he just doesnt care. i mean, he's been in the business for so long, it doesnt really matter anymore. its like, "oh hell, im getting my $40,000 either way so it doesnt matter." and since his name is so well know, he will just keep getting booked, no matter how little he gives a shit.

You lot are either all really, really jealous or really lame... take your pick.

When i see you guys doing one Essential mix, i'll give you credit. Two, i'll be amazed. Ten years worth... keep dreaming.

Oh, and also, Oakenfold came back to the UK from Ibiza in '88 or so and started a club night playing the same music he heard and was inspired by in Ibiza... and now look at the UK club scene. Have some respect for your elders.

Without Oakenfold undoubtedly the Trance scene would not be the same. Armin lists Oakey as a main inspiration, read the inlay to ASOT 2004 and you'll see. Plus Armin says one of his favourite producers ever was 'Man with no Name'... gee, guess what label a lot of his productions come out on? Perfecto was around a 'tiny' bit before PPK... Just to let you know.

Tiesto playing Street Spirit? Oakey was playing a dance mix of that track first. Adagio for Strings? Oakey was playing the original in 96. Do i need to continue? I think i'll let you continue on now. I've made my point and will always stand by it.

he's come to wisconsin once and i saw it.... it wass fun and full of energy. in fact it kicked ass. maybe one trainwreck. i suppose the only reason i really liked it though is cause im too young to get into clubs or any type of big venue, so this was a big opportunity....

I have two or three of his goa sets, and they're ok, I'll admit. Nothing special. But some of his other essential mixes are damn good. He has never been the most solid technically, and deserves all of the negative feedback he gets for that. I heard him run out of record at Space in Miami, throw a beat in, and try speeding the record at the end of a phrase to add a build effect, but it was garbage. But his record selection, if not good now, used to be phenomenal. He played all of the dope tracks, and they were tracks that not everyone had. I like to compare him to Tiesto as a dj. Great tracks, mixing's wack. But the things he has done as a producer (not writing tracks, those suck) are immeasurable. He did elevate trance and the whole EDM scene. He also discovered rappers, bands, etc. He discovered Hernan Cattaneo, who is amazing. He may not be the best dj, but people out there that aren't dj's or aren't ultra savy, don't hear a lot of his mistakes. He covers up the really bad flaws, but it is embarrasing when you know what is going on. His off the decks accomplishments are definitely bigger.

not caring equates into sucking for me. Who wants to see a dj that doesn't care. I had to see him mainly because I have not seen him before, and I doubt I will ever go see him again.

Yes he did get a lot going for trance....however the past is past, the future is now. Its kinda like micheal jordan, he pwned basketball for a while and did great things for it, but even he finally retired from playing.

Likewise I wouldn't mind if oakenfold stepped back from djin and kept producing. But that is just me and I know that don't mean shit.

*edit**oh yea, since you guys are bringing up his sets and cds....another world pwned me for years....I still ove listening to thsoe cds.

and forget carrying a lighter, a girl has to be more creative when picking me up than the ol lighter trick. ankle me or something.
