Nothing of what you said is rigth fully...
putting your money on your computer and some softsynths is the best thing you can do and u can manage with how much cpu they will take i can run even 12 vst's and vsti's at the same time and it still work and it's cheaper the next reason is that the computer is the main thing u do with all the recordings and your main work..
but still the work with hardware is still cleaner and more easier for makin good sounds but for doing some bass and lower notes work you can use softsynths and they make great job..
