i don't play trance, i play techno. with techno, generally it doesn't matter at what pitch (within reason) you play certain records, they will still sound good, especially in a mash-up. obviously there are faster tracks and slower tracks, so i like the flexibility of not having to worry about whether or not a tune will go fast enough or slow enough.

Well, if one tune is at really low BPM and other one is at really fast BPM, I would guess that mixing them would sound like shite, 'cause one tune gonna play too fast or other tune gonna play too slow.

i have a friend and he bought his tech's. now he's pissed off because some of his breaks records won't go fast enough to mix with his other breaks records. i just sit there with a smug grin on my face, i don't need to say a word.

even with trance, there are some seriously slow tracks that just shouldn't be that slow (for example, the armin remix of rapture), and they even sound better faster. flexibility is always a key factor.
