he also signed his huge deal when salaries were getting disgustingly out of hand. The market has now since tailed off and Jeter will probably not sign as big next contract.

But I'd still pay him that much money. He and Bernie are probably the two best clutch hitters come playoff time and there is just no replacing a Derek Jeter. He's a classy guy all around.
