lol, which planet are you living on?

his trial is in iraq because the iraqi people wanted to try him themselves for his crimes against them. plus its probably better that way because he can be sentenced to death.

although he has been guilty of war crimes himself (see iran/iraq war), he has done more to his own people than in any war crime he has committed.

We dont get anything about the Milosevic trial here in Australia. Havent heard a word from it since it started actually..

But yeah, I was wondering why no one was talking about sending Saddam to the Hague...?????

Anyway, the US has no right to rally support for sending people to the Hague. Not until they accept it themselves and leave their own war criminals open to prosecution.

does anyone seriously think the iraqi people will vote for a brutal leader who has tortured and killed hundreds of thousands of people over the past 2 decades? if you do, you need your head looking at.

The way i see it AT THIS MOMENT, Iraq is in a worse shape now than it was with Saddam.

So why woudn't people want their old leader back?

I'd say there are 2 reasons. Unlike Milosevic, Saddam was not worldwide recognized as a threat to other countries, and the unilateral US action against him was not supported by the UN. The second reason is that Milosevic fell during the reign of Clinton administration who was not as opposed to the ICJ project as the current Bush administration is. Besides, the court in Hague was initially established as a court whose jurisdiction was only applicable to former Yugoslavia, with the later inclusion of Rwanda. Other countries must willingly accept the court jurisdiction, something that US government obviously didn't want for Iraq to do.

Milosevic stood up to the al-Qaeda thugs.
