i only saw one episode of his show, in that episode he invited guests who disagreed with him and wanted to 'challange' him on various topics (beating your kids, being fat, pregnancy...).

what i hated about it was that he brought the stupidest weakest people to argue with him, people who are easily swayed, and don't actually have a real opinion on the various subjects, they just claimed to have an opinion.

and i completely hated the way he argued with them... i dont remember exactly what was it, but i remember i hated every minute of it.

conclusion:
a complete fraud who doesnt deserve the title 'dr.'

The Oprah-fication of reality psychology is really making a turn for the worse in our society. When I watch my mother watch this stuff, I try to remind her that just because you can relate to some of these people's pains and problems, his advice cannot help you, or the millions of other people who share similar, but not the exact same problem. This type of group television therapy is much more harmful than it is beneficiary. I'm sorry, but you cannot cure your problems by watching other people on television who are fucked up get advice for the same thing, because its not the same thing, it can never be the exact same thing.

But coming from America, I wouldn't be as surprised that this sort of quick-fix, audience appeasing psychology isn't propular. I mean we all like to eat our fast-food burgers within 5 minutes, we might as well have our psychology the same way too. Were so busy with our everyday lives, that we would perfer to watch other people lives to get fixed and feel fixed with them.

Dr.Phil, fast-fix psychologist at your service.

Until a month or so i was thinking that he is Jeffrey Tambor from "the Larry Sanders Show"(one of the greatest shows of all times btw...)

Actually I wrote a short essay last year for some in-class test about the Oprah-fication of American Television, I got the idea from another acclaimed writer, who made up the word "Oprah-fication". I just have pet peeves, hes one of them, Oprah is one too, only for different reasons.
