i dont want to jump to conclusions but the scene to me feels like its been silenced quite a bit, it seems as if promotions are only pulling crowds if they bring big names, which they have been recently, then again it goes to say what names do u define as big names. the top ten most liekly. its sad to say but even the likes of MIKE or carl cox, had alot more less people then i think they would have in the past, people i talk to the old clubbers say they feel like they are stuck in the good ol days 99-01, when the scene was better. now a days people go wherever they think is cool. i know a club down here in newport is insanly packed every monday, on a monday folks, and it has a resident dj. well i hope things change real soon, cause i dont like the way im feeling about the scene currently. |
The current scene is about big names now and promoting the DJ is what the promotes do now. I agree, big names are difined by top 10. Its nice to see Heaven briging other DJs that are just as talented. And to be honest, this "big name" thing has been getting old. It feels SO main stream to me now. Like people arent there for the actual talent of the person, IMO. Which reminds me, my bf went to AVB a couple of weeks ago and when Markus was spinning some guy next to him kept chanting "Armin, Armin, ARmin....." How fucking anoying!! People like these are just taking up space!
