i stopped the wrong cd once infront of people, it sucks but its not the end of the world, you just have to pick up the peices and keep going, you're human, its no big deal. don't get discouraged. it was you're first gig, its all up hill from there. have fun with it. atleast you played some nice tunes.

as I read your post I was laughing cuz your feelings were exactly what I felt at my very first house party i played at. the best advice I can give you is to worry more about the tunes more than the mixing. I promise you that 99% of the people there cant tell the differnce between a sh!tty mix and a awesome mix. Just dont trainwreck!! Obviously you f#cked up when you stoped the decks! But i think you did that cuz you were so nervious about your mixing. AS long as you can get some good feedback from the crowd ( i.e. ladies dancing and gettin naked ) than your doing a good job. Relax ! There arent 100 DJs in the crowd judging you and your not tiesto where everyone is hearing closely to try to bash you ! Have fun ! I always have a few drinks (key word: few) as Im playing to settle my nerves. Its good to be a bit anxious or nervious but you need to be able to control it so it doesnt control you. Remeber this if anything:

DJ'ing in front of crowds is like sex. The first time your nervous and akward. The second time you get better but you still are exploring the feeling. The third time you are in control and you are thinking about how to do it and make it better. The fourth time you understand and anticapte everything, you know what to do and how to do it. The fifth time you become closer to a pro.

Just have fun and enjoy yourself. With time your will become better in front of crowds. This takes time just as it took time for you to master mixing.
