1. These politicians must meet 100s of new people every day. Can you really blame him for not remembering someone before they were a canidate for VP? Plus, Cheney is old.

2. Maybe he knew they had met before and knew everyone else knew that so he purposely said it to make it sound like "You're not important enough to remember."
