Human ear handles about 15-20,000 hz, if I remember correctly. I can understand why you'd want out of that range on speakers, but I agree, on headphones it seems a bit excessive.

I have the Sennheiser HD-280s, damn fine headphones so far.

the reason for this is the exact same reason that vinyl sounds warmer (and given the right equipment, better) than a CD.

yes the human ear can not pick up an individual sound at 8hZ, but that sound will make a difference to the sounds we can hear, and thus will give better sound.

another thing to look out for when buying a pair of headfones, especially as a club dj, is the amount of ambient noise that they cut out. hd280's cut out 32dB of ambient noise, meaning you dont have to have them nearly as loud in a club environment to hear your cue track clearly. there arn't many cans that do so well!

as a lot of people have said, the hd280's are fantastic headfones. mine have lasted a year before cracking (which tbh is good going for me), but who cares because when that happens you send them back and get a new pair. if things work out right and they always crack within 2 years, you will never have to buy another pair of headfones

I use the Sennheiser HD25 (not the SPs) and swear by them. Again they do cut out a lot of outside noise which makes them really useful. The sound is also nice and crisp.

They are a lot tougher than the Sony 700s but I have also used those and have no real issues with them other than durability.

The Pioneer are good and so are the Technics.

Any of the above with perhaps a few others will to fine.

Best advice is to try them for yourself and decide which fit you the best.

Cheers
Nem
