The valued point comment was in regards to what I quoted.

and his philosophy is nothing new and revealing, its common sense in american media, so no gold stars.

NO need in double posting. Dr Phil is just a redneck phenomena, and I'm a redneck. Doesn't mean I like him though either. Have to admit though that he's duped a pile of nimble minded bitches into a personal fortune for himself. I normally won't give him more than a commercial break during the Simpsons.

Does the speaker's own actions have any relevance to the argument at hand though? If a smoker tells you not to smoke because it's bad for your health, should you disbelieve what the smoker just told you because he or she is being hypocritical? Does the hypocrisy take away from the matter at hand? Does it change the fact that smoking is indeed bad for your health? Does it make the advice any less credible?

On a side note, the Mexican channels don't seem to have too much of a problem with the Jerry-Springer type shows. I know Spanish, I've spoken it all my life, but sometimes it's just fun to turn down the volume and try to guess when they're gonna start throwing punches and stuff, maybe start cheering for the old lady as she goes after her son-in-law who had sex with her husband.
