Good choice. Each synth will have its own character. It boils down to what flavor you like and prefer. Super Nova II series has a very liquid & bright sound, however, sound rather thin when compared to others like the Nord Lead, JP 80XX or Virus. From the four, i would say the Nord Lead series (3 in particular) has the thickest raw sound, & Nova the thinest. Although the Super Nova is thinner than the JP-80XX, u dont always need thick in the mix... Thats why I would still say a SuperNova is a better 'all around' type synth than the JP(kinda comparing apples with oranges). More comparable would be Super Nova & the Virus series.
What makes the superNova series competitive in my opinion is its strong effects & features while using in multi-mode. But when comparing the raw sound, without FX, you can see its weakness IMO.
I personally prefer the sound of the JP-80XX better... I have to admit, FX are kind crappy on the JP, but you can always route it to an FX box to make it sound even more dynamite, or use software FX (though hardware FX are better).
