Actually, no, it's not the same weight at all. I don't understand all the technicality behind it, but it allows the tonearm to weight down more. There is no need to worry about the fine tune adjustments on the black dial when the weight is reversed. I find it very useful for great tracking, good sound quality, and while everyone will argue that this wears the record down significantly, I have not experienced this.
I have had them reversed for 1.5+ years now and the records from way back in the day even still play just fine.
