Mixmag, because of the monthly high-grade mixes

ive been reading mixmag off an on for the last 2 years, and i can say it has definatly gone downhill.

thats not to say its not entertaining, but dont take it seriously.

they have news, but i guess nothing much you cant found out frequenting the TA forums.

the cds are nice sometimes, but most of the time they just go on my shelf, i dont even bother to listen.

i think their "drug issue" should be out soon, with the self proclaimed "worlds largest drug survey"

PS - i didnt like DJ Mag, it was too serious

I bought the last 12 months 3 times a Mixmag for the cd's of Paul van Dyk, Armin and Carl Cox (the cd of Cox is wicked shit btw) and I used the Mixmag as toiletpaper, what a bad mag.

I buy the odd mixmag but they jump on every bandwagon claiming they were first to do this or first to coin this expression. DJ Mag has some good articles but they have lost focus now. I don't know which one to read anymore because they have both sunk to such a new low. Mixmag is the higher selling magazine but DJ Mag has Terry Church who writes smart articles. Personally I'd just grab my news from a bunch of different sites and buy the odd dj mag and mixmag.

They interviewed deejays slamming trance but all the deejays got big playing trance, so it was kinda of dodgy. If I honestly had to pick, I'd go with Mixmag, just because I like their CDs more.

I agree 100%. I subscribe to both and they suck. 95% of both magizines are filled with ads.

Sometimes Mixmag writes more about drugs than it does music...

Mixmag makes me laugh sometimes, and usually its CDs aren't bad.

So overall I'd say it, I don't like DJ much. Last time I read it I seem to remember about 5 or 6 pages of house reviews and 1 page for every other genre, biased?

If IDJ was a third option I'd maybe vote it... it also seems to focus on house a bit too much, but I find it a nicer read than DJ, and better equipment reviews.

You gotta laugh at DJ Mag, every year Trance DJ's win hands down in their poll yet you still get 5 house review pages to 1 for prog and 1 for trance. Then have a look at their 'club' chart and see the wank in there!!! It's still a must buy for me though because it covers all the bases at least and I like to keep an open mind.
