Mysteryland or Dancevalley look to be a hippie type festival.Cant stand hippies

Well espacially Dancevalley is aiming for a hippie direction but thatīs why it is soooo great. Atmosphere is really laidback and nice. Donīt think DV and ML are only visited by hippies. THese parties are visited by people from all walks of life. That also is making these partys nice.

Let me explain:

Dance Valley and Mysteryland have big mainstages where you can sit/ picknick/smoke weed/chill/relax/listing to music. But that doesnt me it is a passive party where everybody is sitting. Everyone is just doing what they like to do. For some that is just relaxing, for some that is partying really hard! I mean man this years Dance Valley Carl Cox was closing down the mainstage. 50 000 people jumping and parting the whole time! Another example: Adam Beyer was playing around 1 oīclock in the afternoon. THe tent was packed and everybody was jumping screaming and giving it 100000%. I rarely saw this kind of partying at Innercity.

quote:
,wouldnt the sound be of better quality and just being indoors with the lights and smoke that it would be more of a total atmosphere.

Indoors or outdoors doesnīt make a difference in soundquality.

Lights: during the day the outdoor stage doesnīt have lightning BUT when the sun went down this years Dance Valley had 12 lazers, big smoke machines and fireworks.
Also the big tents at outdoor parties have big lightning and sound installations.

Personally I prefer a nice sun and a temperature of 25 degrees then walking in a dark hall with people so drugged they are walking like zombies. No I want nice weather and girls are partying in bikini.

quote:
I would think an outdoor festival (stages) would look dwarfed judging by some of the pics and all muddy if it rained.

That is true. Outdoor parties have the risk of getting muddy and rainy.
But donīt expect to have a clean trouser when you come back from a indoor party.

Conclusion:

I can garantee that outdoor party arenīt passive. Most outdoor parties people are dancing and partying harder then indoor partys.
For dutch people outdoor parties are special: 75% of the year it is raining,so when it is summer and it is good weather and there is a good party people tend to go completely crazy!

As for the Sensation discussion:

Is it a bad party ?

it is about the show. Thatīs why it is called sensation. Id-t wants to deliver you a sensational evening with dancers, lazers, fireworks, acts, djs.

Well is that a bad thing?

No it isnīt if you like being entertained and seeing nice shows. Personally If I was a tourist in Amsterdam the only show I wanted to see is a Peepshow.

My personal opinion is that Sensation is too much show and too little about the music. For me as an EDM lover it is all about the music. If you are feeling the same way the following outdoor festivals are much more interesting for you then sensation.

Dance Valley-Mysteryland:
Both great festivals, great line ups. All kind of styles are played there from techno to armin-trance to breakbeat to prog to Hardhouse

Awakenings:
Great techno festival

Extrema:
club/groove/prog/techno orientated festival with great atmosphere

Futhermore you have: (nice partys but not as good the 4 mentioned above)
Lovefields
Fast Foward dance parade
Defqon
Impulz Outdoor

Aw bugger.............

End of next year I was gonna come over to Europe for a while and visit some festivals while I make a decision about my future (keep studying or go into the workforce).

My plan was to arrive in Europe in time for Innercity, spend a month or two travelling around, clubbing etc, finish with the first TE in 2006 and come back.

Innercity is a must for me, but it seems you guys think TE sucks. I would love to come over for your summer and do DV and Mysteryland and other summer festivals you guys have, but I don't have the money to take a year off study/work which is what I would have to do. Doing it over our summer holidays is the only way I can do it.

Any other good parties during January there?

(it took me a while to realise your summer holiday is our winter holiday. )

Well just DON'T count on TE 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the whole TE concept because Holland is beyond the big trance hype.

Innercity 2006 is for a big party pretty shure. Also there are always good partys at NYE.

I'm curious why too......

I think it was this years feb one looked like it rocked, Rank 1, Ferry, Marcel Woods, some other good djs I've forgotten. So its not like its lacking quality (as far as I can see), Blank & Jones if I remember rightly too........

Stuppid foreigners who are sticking feathers in TE ass

Well it is hard to explain if you are not familiar with the dutch dance scene.

TE was a very good party a few years ago. Since then the quality slowly declined. Line-ups not that good, cheesy crowd, cheesy trance. Also note that trance isn't populair anymore in the Netherlands. The harder styles are back in netherlands.

This has 2 consequenses>

Harder orientated music at TE

The real trance fans are going to less big trance partys whit better crowd, public, vibe atmosphere and ofcourse better trance.

Compared to other dutch partys TE lacks the level of production, line-up, crowd, vibe, atmosphere

I said this before>

If you are travelling to holland and spending so much money why attending TE if there are far better partys. Me personally thinks your money is better spent if you are going to parties like>

Big:
Dance Valley
Mysteryland
Innercity
Small:
Trance.nu
Arise
Everybody
