are you serious? you don't have to leave samples as they are,as I am sure you know. change the ADSR envelope of the kick drum sound to get more BOOM if you want it. or layer two on top of each other, change EQ settings for both, have one with emphasized high, and one with emphasized low, leave the mids the same. that'll give you a nice chunky *thud*, then a little reverb to make it go THUUDDD.
