Well, that depends on your definition of "innovative." Probspot may have a "progressive" sound, ie tunes more relaxed, and at a BPM lower than 138, but using the same samples in every tune, while just changing the melody, isn't very innovating.

I just think that the statement describes the word and has nothing to do with the music. Every music genre can be progressive in that sense, but is not necessarily decribed as Progressive.

I kind of agree with Ishkur's guide though in saying that Progressive is a misnamed genre, and I was just joking with my previous statement mind.

It started out as a slowed down version of trance, nowadays it's a genre of it's own. Especially over the last year, producers succesfully combined progressive (trance) with less 'accessible' types of EDM like techno, tech-house, electro and acid.

You don't like progressive, fine (it also took me some time to appreciate it)... that's your opinion and I respect it. Considering the variety of styles and the possibilities it creates for EDM in the near future, I think the name progressive is more than justified

No no, you misunderstood me. What I mean is that prog music builds around repetition of the same theme and don't really progress anywhere as such (though, obviously, there are numerous exceptions to this - there are different categories within prog as well). I'm not saying that because I don't like prog - I do like it... if you don't count this bastardised version of it some big jocks mistakenly think of as prog.
