for £700+ id expect those cd decks to have a built in microwave and beer can holder so i could chow down whilst spinning. turn it upside down and voila - a toilet for those situations where you just cant leave the stage area. anything less and i aint handing over the cash. its just rubbish if you cant take a dump in it.

Actually, the Pioneer CDJ1000MK2s are usually the most expensive from what I've seen... he probably was just going off someone else's advice who didn't know what they were talking about either

you scratch mostly in hip hop, and hip hop songs can have a wide range of BPM speed. you may want to beatmatch the songs but they are way different, say 95 bpm vs 102 bpm. so your vocals don't sound like a chipmunk at +4.5, you pitch lock it and the crowd cant tell you increased the speed. but with the technics the dj cant scratch on that track now. when you pay ~1000 USD on a piece of equipment, it should work. the technics do not.
