Let's be mindful there’s a difference between a democratic republic having nukes and a radical Islamic theocracy having nukes. Besides that point, why does Iran need nuclear weapons? The U.S. needed them and still needs them as a deterrent against powers such as Russia, China and North Korea. What immediate military threat does Iran have? And I can say the U.S. isn't particularly interested in invading Iran anyway (Iraq has more oil ).

so because it is "Iran" it means they cant have it,Pakistan has them and they have Al Quada in the country,Isreal has them, but since they are tight with the US they can have them.A premptive strike on Iran wont solve anything,it'll make a better case for them to actually get nuclear bombs.
Also attacking Iran will distabilize the region even more.specially Iraq.

let's not forget taht india has them too. the only sensible solution is not proliferation, but disarment, and the US adminstration hasn't done anything or very little on that issue.

you, as a western European, should be able to appreciate strategic nuclear deterence. especially when the parties involved have shown the level of responsibility they've had for the last half century.

As i pretty much said in the other post, yes, i agree, the world is less safe with one more country with nuclear weapons. But as an Iranian i would definitely think i would have as much right to have nuclear weapons esp since you just invaded the country next to it.

as a western european tho, i certainly feel a lot safer that the US have nuclear weapons than iran..., since the US have pretty much the same way of thinking as me..

trying to see it out of their perspective tho, i think they have the same right as you to have it, IE if they are going to destroy their weapons, i think the US should do it too.

On that note, I'm not in favor of Israel of having nuclear weapons either.

I agree that if I was Iran, I would feel insecure right now seeing that the U.S. is in Iraq and Afghanistan. But honestly, their point of view is irrelevant on the issue of nuclear weapons (I emphasize nuclear weapons, not necessarily nuclear technology). In the grand view of things, there’s no genuine “right” for a nation to have nuclear weapons. Any nation can claim a right for nuclear weapons under the guise of defense. Just ask Kim Jong ll
