for the record, i have a 256MB ATI 9600 Sapphire in one of my PCs and it hasn't given me any problems to date.

No, but seriously. RADEON sucks. Buy nVIDIA, and you won't look back. You don't have to update as often with nVIDIA, buy one, wait awhile, buy another. Everyone I know that gets RADEON ends up buying a new card every year. Bunch of sea urchins.
